Bio
Hi I'm Jordan Jorritsma. I've lived on the North side of Holland my entire life. I went to high school at Holland Christian and went on to graduate with a degree in Economics at Calvin College. I promptly moved back to Holland with my wife, Liz, because why would anyone want to live anywhere else?
I've worked to improve Ottawa county through my job as a legislative director in the Michigan House of Representatives. And I've been blessed to work on some important legislation such as bills that would improve healthcare, support public safety, reform our foster care system, protect life, and lower taxes. I also serve on the Ottawa County Land Bank Authority and I'm a member of Harderwyk Ministries.
I've always been passionate about Holland. When I was in younger, other kids my age would talk about wanting to move away from Holland to this place or that. Meanwhile, I was talking about how amazing it was that we live in an area where we have Lake Michigan within biking distance, dunes within hiking distance, strong family values, dozens of churches, and a weeklong festival about tulips! If that's the "West Michigan Bubble" then I don't want to pop it!
I'm not the only one who believes that either. Ottawa County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. While Michigan is 49th in the country for population growth, Ottawa County is the destination for people from all over who want to enjoy all that we have to offer. That's why we need leadership that can help Ottawa County grow while holding on to our traditional values, protect our communities, and maintain the heart and soul of our beautiful area.
I believe that my experience working on legislation, my passion for the community, my desire to build relationships and work with everyone, and my hope to see Ottawa County thrive will equip me for service on the County Commission. I hope to earn your vote this November.
